<image:title>Blog - Enjoyable Reads - February Edition - Blind Date with a Werewolf by Patricia Briggs</image:title>
<image:caption>I’m looking forward to delving into this next installment in that universe, but with slightly different characters. The stories in this volume revolve around a very old werewolf, Asil, who has become something of a recluse. Well-meaning friends set him up on some blind dates, and I can’t wait to see what unfolds!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - Enjoyable Reads - February Edition - Lightlark by Alex Aster</image:title>
<image:caption>I’d also mentioned delving into some of the YA fantasy scene’s books, and I have to say both of these delivered on their hype. Alex Aster’s Lightlark was a solid adventure with mystery, plot twists, and a relatable main character. The book was heavy with emotion and tension, but that was in the best ways possible. Aster handled her triangle with a deft, delicate hand, which I really appreciated. Good geometry can really make a great book/series!</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Enjoyable Reads - February Edition - Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros</image:title>
<image:caption>Knowing that I’m terribly late to the party on Rebbeca Yarros’s Fourth Wing, all I can say is that it was incredibly well written. Having been around military folks for much of my life, and my da was also a veteran, her delivery of that vibe for a militaristic academy felt truly spot on. Her characters were very 3-dimensional and engaging. What absolutely impressed me was that she managed a higher body count (I think) than George R.R. Martin; yet, it never seemed gratuitous. That aspect delivered a healthy concern (having read Martin long before it was cool) for the safety and well-being of her characters. She brought the stakes and made them high, which was fantastic.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Enjoyable Reads - January Edition - Ember Eternal by Chloe Neil</image:title>
<image:caption>I’ve been reading Chloe Neill for quite some time and have loved her many worlds: vampires, magic users, alternate fantasy/historical. It’s all been delightful. Recently, she came out with something new, a romantasy: Ember Eternal. This has been a worthy addition to her catalog. Fox, the main character, is an engaging thief who finds herself in an unexpected predicament that leads her into a gripping adventure. There are fights, kissing, mysteries, friends, magic, and much more (including a dusty library–sacrilege!) This is a very fun read and a great way to chase away the winter blues. Having heard that she’s working on the next installment, I’m looking forward to it!</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Enjoyable Reads - January Edition - Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry</image:title>
<image:caption>Another book that I recently read is Shield of Sparrows. I hadn’t really heard too much about the story, so I’d come in pretty blank, though I had seen the cover a lot on social media. To me, it almost seemed like the best way to approach a book, rather like seeing a movie without having the benefit of trailers. The world that Devney created is incredibly engrossing and different. Her characters are well fleshed out and realistic. There are monsters that fascinate me (I’m always a major “critter” fan. Jurrasic4everwhat?) This story is compelling and enticing, leaving the reader wondering what will happen next. My only note is that it ends on a cliffhanger in the best way. I honestly said out loud, “Wait?! What?! Whatdya mean it ends here?” Can’t wait for the sequel to arrive on April 7th!</image:caption>
